ABOUT HOWARD
A brief biography
Howard Graff BSc FCA MAE
A Maths and Computer Science graduate, I’m a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a member of the Academy of Experts. For nearly 40 years, I was a Registered Auditor in the UK. After serving 16 years as a partner at BKL Chartered Accountants, and leading their Litigation Support department, I’ve now retired from the partnership and taken up independent consulting.
With experience spanning all areas of accounting practices in the UK, and having held numerous external directorships, my career path is a rich tapestry. I’ve had the pleasure of working with a diverse clientele, from multinational companies to the smallest sole traders, handling various auditing, accounting, and commercial matters.
In 1985, I began my career at Touche Ross, now known as Deloitte, and later consulted for another “Big-8” firm that merged into PwC. Post-PwC, I ran my own accounting and consulting firm for a decade, during which I sat on the boards of several private companies.
In 2003, I joined BKL, a medium-sized firm ranked around 50th in the UK. At BKL, I handled a broad portfolio of clients and split my time between audit work, transactional and tax advice, and issues concerning commercial litigation and fraud investigation.
Recently, I’ve been involved in various corporate finance deals, including the sale of the Platform 9 ¾ group (Harry Potter merchandise) to Warner Brothers, raised finance for emerging private companies, advised on commercial disputes, and investigated several frauds. In litigation, I’ve written several CPR Part 35 Expert Reports and given evidence in court on multiple occasions. My next court appearance is set for October this year.
